Kendrick Elementary nearly finished; teachers to begin moving May 17 under temporary occupancy plan

Gloria Barrera and Jared Storzinger reported the project is roughly 95% complete, under budget, and on track for early May furniture installation and late‑May moves.
Barrera said the district received an initial delivery of furniture and aimed for teachers to begin working in classrooms on Saturday, May 17, under a planned temporary certificate of occupancy. “On April 11, we’re aiming for our temporary certificate of occupancy on May 22,” she said, noting the full occupancy permit will follow once the remaining punch list is completed. Presenters highlighted features such as secure vestibules, an indoor/outdoor courtyard, a library with a puppet stage requested by the campus, multiple classroom neighborhoods with lockdown points, and both an existing and a new gym.
Trustees thanked the contractor and district staff for delivering the school on time and under budget. The presenters said final hardware installation is underway, district technology installations are scheduled, and moves would be staged in two waves (first May 17 and final move May 23 after school ends) to prepare the campus for fall operations.
