The board adopted Calendar 1 for the 2025-26 instructional year after staff explained differences among multiple calendar options and reported on staff and community voting results.
Dr. Kornblum (speaker 14) explained that Calendar 1 had the most combined staff and community votes (414 staff, 241 and 364 for other options for a total of 1,019 votes) and included two extra days for bad weather minutes and two early releases. Trustees asked about how planning days can be used and whether changes to school start times had been considered; staff said start-time changes are a "domino effect" that require transportation planning and broader stakeholder engagement. The motion to adopt Calendar 1 passed unanimously.
Trustees also noted that Halloween will be a holiday under the adopted calendar and that the district has banked minutes equal to two extra days to provide scheduling flexibility for bad weather.
