Superintendent Spicer outlines bond progress, South Waco move‑in and classroom timelines

During the superintendent's report, Dr. Spicer said the attendance boundaries committee met for a second time after a district "thought exchange" that drew more than 1,000 participants, about 73% of whom were parents, and that committee members reviewed draft elementary boundaries and two middle‑school options.
On construction, Dr. Spicer summarized progress on the 2021 bond program, noting that South Waco Phase 1 is the first of the final round of move‑ins. "Teachers will be moved into their new classrooms by the end of the day on Friday, December 20," Dr. Spicer said, adding that staff would have January 6 to finalize classroom setups and practice new procedures before students return in 2025. She also said Child Nutrition Services will move out for a full kitchen renovation to be completed in August 2025 and that food trucks will be used during the renovation.
Dr. Spicer thanked staff, principals and students for supporting the moves and praised community engagement in the boundary review. Trustees took the report and asked questions; several trustees thanked the community for participating and praised the construction finishes seen on tours.
