Board approves revised plan for Waco High tennis courts after redesign to lower costs

The board authorized the superintendent to execute Construction Change Directive No. 5 for the Waco High tennis courts, approving a revised plan trustees said retains better court orientation and spectator accommodations while reducing previously estimated costs.
Mrs. Barrera, presenting the item, said administrators and contractors worked with the tennis coach and school staff to redesign the layout and "we ended up with a better solution," including 15 feet between courts on the new section and additional viewing areas. She told trustees the plan will be resurfaced and repaired so that, when finished, "you will not be able to tell what was new and what was existing." The motion to approve CCD No. 5 passed unanimously.
Separately, earlier in the meeting Trustees approved a time-extension change order to Rogers O'Brien for Waco High's project to align the contract calendar with rain‑day allowances; the contractual completion date was set for May 22 (no additional compensation was associated with that extension).
