Summary

Staff described a new library‑materials process designed to ensure visibility and parental access. Under the procedure explained to trustees, any new title must be posted on the district’s Follett catalog (linked from the district website) for 30 days; following the posting period, the item will be brought to the board for consideration.
"Any book that goes on the shelf has to be posted on the website for 30 days," staff said while summarizing the EFB local policy changes. The presenter also outlined a two‑stage challenge process: an informal review followed, if necessary, by a formal committee composed of a librarian, teacher and parent that would evaluate the challenge and, if appropriate, forward a recommendation to the board for a final decision.
