The Veribest Independent School District Board of Trustees on Aug. 18 unanimously authorized the district’s Director of Technology to allocate remaining REAP grant funding for fiscal year 2023, with a firm obligation deadline of Sept. 30, 2025.
Board President Mark Kellermeier moved to approve the authorization and Mark Schwartz seconded; the motion passed 7–0 as part of routine consent business. The authorization allows the district technology office to obligate REAP dollars for eligible broadband and equipment expenses before the federal deadline.
The decision was presented alongside routine consent items including minutes and accounts-payable approvals. The board heard separate technology updates from Director Lahne Burns during administrator reports, who described lab computer replacements, an ongoing imaging process for new machines, and the completion of new servers.
No public comment was recorded on the item. The board’s vote formally enables staff to proceed with procurement and contracting activities necessary to meet the REAP obligation timeline.
