Officials at the reorganization meeting listed recent grant awards and plans for capital projects around town, including parks, bikeways and a federal line item for a damaged spillway.
The mayor announced, "the boroughs received $2,000,000 from Congressman Smith through a federal line item to deal with the spillway," and said CNM Engineering is preparing a concept plan with a March or April target for a proposed design. He said the design must then clear DEP approvals before the project can go to bid.
The mayor also reported a $203,000 NJDOT bikeways award and a $100,000 transportation line item the borough will use for paving and pedestrian improvements. A municipal open space grant (amount cited as approximately $161,000) was described as funding repairs to two long-overdue arboretum bridges. Council members credited state and county partners for supporting bike-lane expansions and park upgrades.
Officials said some projects will proceed after engineering, permitting and bidding; at the meeting they asked staff to pursue further federal funding to minimize local costs.
