Valley Mills ISD board approves reserve peace officer position under HB1458
Summary

Following an executive session on Oct. 22 citing Texas Government Code sections 551.074, 551.082, 551.072 and 551.076, the Valley Mills ISD Board of Trustees approved adding a Reserve Peace Officer position to the district police department. The motion to create the position was made by Jim Blackford, seconded by Douglas Shanafelt, and passed 7–0.
The executive-session agenda specifically listed the reserve-officer addition pursuant to HB1458. Chief Roy Fikac reported earlier during the meeting on campus safety activity, including safety audits and inspections; the board formalized the reserve-officer position during the public reconvening.
