Public commenters urge caution on AI vendor use and request county involvement in property dispute

Rick Yentzer, a newsman and author, urged caution about the county’s pending contract with Aurelion. He said the vendor is a relatively young, Seattle-based company and asked whether the county has confirmed where the AI and third-party components originate. “Was it coming from The United States, China, or anywhere else in this world,” Yentzer asked, and he urged more rigorous legal and procurement vetting and public access to contracts.
Chad Stormberg described a property-line dispute that has persisted for 13 years involving a 0.25-section line that also implicates county property. He asked the county to consider responsibility and suggested hiring outside counsel; commissioners moved and voted to engage Meeks Cockrell of Randolph County to review the matter and assess county steps going forward. Other speakers raised a question about an ADA agenda heading and a small injury claim at the fairgrounds that staff will investigate with insurance.
