Council hears public-works updates: tree removal, retaining wall and water-treatment valve issue

Superintendent Norton and consultant Mike Richetta provided several public-works updates at the May 18 meeting. Council heard that a large tree at Kirby Park requires removal and that Supt. Norton will obtain quotes; Alderman Pellegrini said he will contact the company with the lowest tree-removal quote. A retaining wall repair on Mary Street was discussed; staff indicated the city would perform the retaining-wall repairs itself.
Officials also reported a failing valve at the water treatment plant (WTP) that is reducing production and will require replacement. Richetta and Supt. Norton said they would pursue quotes and schedule the valve replacement to restore full production. No contract awards were recorded at the meeting; staff was directed to follow up on quotes and bring recommendations back to council.
