Village Manager Paul Volpe told the board the administration would ask the State of Illinois to solicit a joint purchase of 1,694 tons of rock salt for the village. Under the joint-purchase arrangement the village is required to order at least 80% of the solicited amount and may order up to 120% if needed.
Volpe noted the village already maintains a relatively large inventory of rock salt in storage at its Grand Avenue facility, and staff will balance new deliveries against existing stock. The manager recommended participation in the joint procurement to secure bulk pricing and availability.
The board included authorization to participate on the consent agenda and approved the action in the unanimous vote. Operational staff will confirm final order quantities and delivery planning with the State procurement schedule.
