Village Manager Paul A. Volpe told trustees the board would consider a 10-year agreement with Axon Enterprise, Inc. to provide body-worn cameras and tasers to the Elmwood Park Police Department.
The contract term would run May 2026 through April 30, 2036, and—according to Volpe's memo—the "annual cost of $59,000 is held constant throughout the contract." The package referenced in the manager's memo includes hardware, software, licensing and support services for the department.
The ordinance authorizing the execution of the agreement was placed on the consent agenda and approved on a unanimous roll call. The contract will require administrative execution and ongoing budget allocation to cover the annual payment for the term.
The board packet did not include extended debate on policy or operational use of the cameras at the meeting; trustees approved the procurement as part of the consolidated consent items.
