On Feb. 10 the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 6246 to adopt a redevelopment plan for two adjacent parcels known as the Old Phelps Dodge site (701–733 South Front Street, Block 761, Lot 4; and 713–743 Amboy Avenue, Block 752, Lot 1). The ordinance adopts the plan prepared by Harbor Consultants, Inc., which the Planning Board recommended after a study to designate the area a non‑condemnation redevelopable site. The adoption cites N.J.S.A. 40A:12A‑1 et seq. (Local Redevelopment and Housing Law).
Victor E. Vinegra of Harbor Consultants presented the plan to the Planning Board in January; the City Clerk was instructed to make the plan available for public inspection in the clerk's office. Final passage was recorded 8–0.
