The Wharton ISD Board considered using remaining budget funds to pay for trustee attendance at the TASB Summer Leadership Institute in San Antonio but did not approve the request.
Secretary-to-the-Superintendent Nicole Snow outlined projected per-member costs and remaining available budget. President Philip Henderson and Trustee Curtis Evans voted to authorize registrations, hotel and per diem; Trustees Millard Stains and Robert Vandagriff voted no, and Trustees Garland Novosad and Lisa Morton-Perez abstained. The motion failed 2–4, so trustees will not be reimbursed through the board’s remaining budget for the institute at this time.
