Trustees approve consent items, waivers and multiple staff contracts

The West Rusk County Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved several routine and administrative actions at the Feb. 23 meeting. Trustees approved the consent agenda (minutes from Jan. 26 and Jan. 28, the Feb. 9 special meeting, bills, payroll and the investment report) on a motion by Trustee Matt Eastwood, seconded by Chris Pratt, with unanimous approval among members present.
The board also authorized filing an exemption to the annual racial‑profiling report with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (motion by Chris Pratt, second Matt Eastwood); approved submitting a TEA waiver request related to an additional missed school day after three weather closures (motion by Matt Eastwood, second Chris Pratt); and approved submission of an application to delay full teacher certification requirements to the 2029/2030 school year (motion by Matt Eastwood, second Chris Pratt). Trustees approved the Intermediate Local Improvement Plan and certified provision of instructional materials for 2026‑27, and after executive session voted to approve contracts for multiple administrators and staff including the assistant superintendent, principals, directors, band director, police chief and school nurse. All motions passed unanimously among members present.
