City Manager Jon C. Williams told commissioners that Ordinance 08-43 (2008) authorizing a fire assessment had never been implemented and that Amendment 5 (Nov. 2024) to state policy could reduce the city’s revenue via homestead-exemption changes. He said staff requested proposals to update the assessment and received two bids: Benesch for $47,845 and Anser Advisory Management for $62,000.
Mr. Williams recommended proceeding with Benesch to develop the fire-assessment update so the city would have data available to implement the assessment if desired. Commissioner Colin Sharman moved to accept the Benesch proposal for $47,845; Commissioner Chloe Johnson seconded and the motion carried unanimously, 5-0.
