Altamonte Springs says USDOT awarded $360,000 Safe Streets for All grant for LED pedestrian lighting

City Manager Frank Martz told commissioners that Altamonte Springs received a $360,000 Safe Streets for All grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to embed LED lights in pedestrian safety areas. He said approximately 80% of the costs have already been expended and that the project will require a series of agreements to be presented to the Commission.
Martz commended staff members Lenny Barden and Bruce Doig for their work on the project. The Commission did not receive public comment on the grant at the meeting; staff will return with necessary agreements and next steps for Commission approval.
