Yantis ISD meeting highlights: student recognition, consent agenda and executive session

Board President April Johnson called the Jan. 15 meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the board recorded an invocation by Austin Baxley and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Dr. James Cowley. Janan Straznicky presented the district's Top AR Readers: Matteo Martinez (3rd grade), Abigail Baker (4th grade) and Larry Naugle (5th grade).
Trustee Ashly Vivion moved to approve the consent agenda as presented; Trustee Jeff Quinn seconded and the motion carried 7-0. Items listed for future agendas included the FIRST report public hearing, order of election, SB 11 and SB 546 resolutions, GPA bill policy and a CECO contractor item. The board adjourned to executive session under Texas Education Code 551.074 at 6:51 p.m., reconvened at 7:00 p.m., reported no action and adjourned the meeting at 7:01 p.m. Jeff Quinn moved to adjourn; Wynne Sellers seconded and the motion carried 7-0.
