Scipio fire report sets March meeting to discuss WUI code adoption and lists grant opportunities

Scipio’s fire department told the council that a Wildland-Urban Interface meeting is scheduled for March 23, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the fire station to discuss adopting the 2006 code and to plan community education and outreach.
The department also reported an updated Wildfire Cooperative Agreement ready for signature and identified grant opportunities staff plan to pursue, including Rural Fire Readiness (federal surplus equipment) and a Utah Fire Department Assistance grant with a March deadline. Training updates included med-car classes in Oak City and a wildland refresher schedule for March through May; monthly fire training nights will move to the fourth Thursday of each month.
"Meeting scheduled for March 23, 2026, 5:30 PM at fire station to discuss code adoption and community education," the report said. Councilors were encouraged to attend the WUI meeting and planning and zoning and the public were invited to participate.
