Whitehouse ISD approves interlocal agreement with Smith County and orders May 2, 2026 trustee election

At the Jan. 12 meeting, trustees approved the interlocal agreement (motion by Holly Conaway, seconded by Nick Moss) authorizing the superintendent to execute the agreement with Smith County, a political subdivision of the State of Texas. Later in the meeting the board moved (mover: Nick Moss; seconder: Maegan Schneider) and voted 7–0 to order the election to be held Saturday, May 2, 2026 for board places 1, 2 and 3.
The actions place the district's trustee election on the May 2 uniform election date; the interlocal agreement delegates election administration tasks to Smith County per standard practice and allows district staff to coordinate logistics and candidate filings in advance of the election.
