Commission votes to invite Beat Within and Live in Peace to report regularly; members seek program outcome data

Several commissioners urged the commission to request outcome and spending data from community partners so the public can assess effectiveness. Commissioner Bocanegra said it was reasonable to ask providers to show their results after multi-year RFP contracts. "I think it's reasonable that we have 1 person from each of these organizations... let us talk to just 1 person, and let the community be assured that public safety is being taken seriously," Bocanegra said during the discussion.
The motion passed by voice vote; no opposition or abstentions were recorded on the transcript. Chair Johanna Rasmussen said the invitation will be extended and that commissioners expect the providers to report on how program funds are being used and whether their services produce the intended outcomes in county youth populations.
