Tatum ISD trustees approved budget amendments on Aug. 25 that move money between budget functions to prevent overspending in the coming school year. Assistant Superintendent of Finance Brandon Milam explained the request was not for additional funds but to reallocate existing dollars across accounts.
Trustee Dennis Williams moved to reduce expenditures in Functions 99, 41, 51 and 52 and increase expenditures in Functions 12, 13, 21, 23, 31, 33, 34, 36 and 53, not to exceed $176,000 in total; Trustee Curt Smith seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously, 7–0.
Milam told the board that the reallocations were intended to “not overspend in any area” and that the amendments would be tracked by the finance department. No additional tax or funding requests accompanied the amendments.
