The Tatum Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the district’s 2025–26 budget and adopted a tax rate of $0.9305 during a special meeting on Aug. 25, 2025.
Superintendent Dr. J.P. Richardson asked the board to approve the budget “as presented.” Assistant Superintendent of Finance Brandon Milam provided fund and function lists and current enrollment figures and noted there were "no changes in the tax rate." Trustee Curt Smith moved to approve the 2025–26 budget; Trustee Stephen Skinner seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously, 7–0.
The board then voted on the tax rate. Trustee Kip Amick moved to adopt the 2025–26 tax rate of $0.9305, composed of an M&O rate of $0.8022 and an I&S rate of $0.1283; Trustee Matt Crawford seconded the motion. The motion passed 7–0.
Board minutes show the public‑hearing portion on the budget and tax rate preceded the votes; no public comments were recorded. The board adjourned following additional business and an executive session later in the agenda.
