Taft ISD approves bond budget increases for baseball/softball fencing and scoreboards

The Taft Independent School District Board of Trustees approved two bond budget increases on Nov. 17, 2025 to add perimeter fencing and scoreboards to the district’s baseball and softball projects. Committee member Paul Luis Treviño moved to increase the baseball/softball budget to include perimeter fencing in the amount of $78,217.60; the motion was seconded by Committee member Miranda Benedict and passed with five yeas and two absences.
Amos Byington of AGCM and Justin Caskey of SpawGlass also briefed the board on broader bond work, reporting that tennis court drawings should be ready within a week or two and that groundwork for the new Taft High School is underway. Committee member Nicole Garza moved to increase the baseball/softball budget to include scoreboards in the amount of $116,400; Paul Luis Treviño seconded and the motion passed.
