Jessica Winder Lee, a district social worker, asked the board to consider the needs of trauma-impacted students in plans to rebuild West Kearns Elementary. She said relocation during a rebuild would be difficult for those students and asked that the district ensure adequate space for a sensory room, a specialized bathroom with a changing table, and a fenced playground.
Winder Lee also warned that longer commute times and relocation could be challenging for affected families and urged the board to incorporate these concerns into planning and decision-making going forward.
