Community Development staff said the $75,000 sewer blockage program is a pilot intended to test demand and that plumbing work on private property would likely be contracted to private plumbers with the city paying eligible homeowners under the program.
Public Works Executive Director Ramirez clarified that the city has already distributed filters to households that received notices last November and will repeat outreach this December. Ramirez said the agency is overlaying known galvanized service-line locations with CDBG areas to identify eligible homeowners for future programs. "The cost of the filters, to be specific, I do not know. They were already in stock when I went through the list, but we can follow‑up with you on that," Ramirez told council.
