Wimberley ISD board hears schematic-design estimate and timeline for 2025 bond projects

Trustees on the Wimberley Independent School District Board of Trustees received a schematic-design update on the district's 2025 bond program on Oct. 27.

Citing work by AG|CM and O'Connell Robertson, Michael Doyle, the district's chief financial officer, and Mark Johnson of AG|CM outlined progress: schematic design for Bid Packages 2 and 3 — covering Wimberley High School, Danforth Junior High, Texan Stadium and the Multipurpose Educational Activity Center — is complete, surveying and geotechnical borings have been finished, and replatting is underway. Presenters said Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is the Construction Manager at Risk for Bid Packages 2 and 3. The schematic design phase produced a first detailed cost estimate of $86,049,185 compared with the original budgeted $85,178,400, a variance of $870,785. The presentation noted that the district has spent $1,794,587 of the $135 million bond as of Sept. 30, 2025.

O'Connell Robertson representatives said the design team had held more than 30 user and planning meetings to inform schematic decisions, and that the next phase—Design Development—will refine system selections and cost accuracy. Board materials and presenters projected a move into contract document preparation and establishment of a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) between November 2025 and March 2026, with primary construction phases forecast between Spring 2026 and Spring 2028.

The board did not take an action to change the schematic estimate at the meeting; trustees were presented with the estimate and schedule and flagged upcoming procurement decisions for later meetings.
