Wimberley ISD advances $135 million bond program, ranks CMARs for high school and junior high projects

Representatives from AG|CM told the board Aug. 25 that the district's 2025 bond proposal totals $135 million and outlined a phased construction plan across six bid packages with anticipated completion in spring 2028. The presentation said approximately $1.17 million has been encumbered for preliminary services including surveying, architecture, geotechnical work and project management.
After the presentation, the board voted to approve the ranking of Construction Managers at-Risk (CMARs) for Bid Package 2 (Danforth Junior High renovations and athletic complex) and Bid Package 3 (new construction/additions at Wimberley High School). In both cases the board delegated to the superintendent or his designee authority to negotiate and execute contracts with the top-ranked CMAR, and to move to the next-ranked firm if negotiations fail. The board also approved a proposed agreement with Terracon for geotechnical and materials testing services tied to the bond. All related motions passed unanimously among trustees present (Yea: 6, Nay: 0, Absent: 1).
AG|CM outlined next steps including continued design development, geotechnical borings, asbestos sampling as needed, and schematic design presentations scheduled for September with approval actions anticipated in October for Bid Packages 1'3. The board's delegation of contracting authority is intended to expedite negotiations and keep projects on the planned schedule.
