The Wimberley Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Aug. 25 to adopt a proposed total tax rate of $1.0099 for tax year 2025 and to approve the 2025'26 operating budgets for the General Fund, Food Service Fund and Debt Service Fund. The motion to adopt the tax rate passed on a 6'0to'0 vote with one trustee absent.
CFO Michael Doyle presented the budget and tax-rate hearing required under Texas Education Code 44.004 and said certified property values increased 1.34% while the proposed rate includes a $0.03 increase to the Interest & Sinking (I&S) portion and leaves the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) rate unchanged at $0.7088. Doyle told the board "the proposed total tax rate is $1.0099, which includes a $0.03 increase to the Interest & Sinking (I&S) rate." He also reported an estimated $343 drop in average property taxes for a typical residence and projected revenue per student of $16,873, including a local increase of $735 per student.
Board actions included a separate motion designating the district CFO as the officer responsible for calculating the no-new-revenue and voter-approval tax rates. The board recorded approval votes for the budget and rate motions; items passed by majority voice (Yea: 6, Nay: 0, Absent: 1). The CFO noted key budget assumptions to guide implementation, including attendance (ADA), state funding values and an estimated Chapter 49 recapture payment. The district will publish required notices and follow state timelines for adopting and certifying rates.
