Valley View ISD honors trustees and student 'Tiger Star' readers at special meeting

At a Feb. 3 special meeting, Valley View ISD trustees received board appreciation recognition and dozens of elementary and junior-high students were honored as 'Tiger Star' readers across three campuses.
Board President Claudia Coronado presided as the Valley View ISD Board of Trustees opened a special meeting Feb. 3 at the district central office where trustees were recognized for community service and students were honored for literacy achievements.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Monica Luna presented tokens of appreciation to board members and administrators and introduced campus principals who recognized student readers. Marina Leal, principal of Valley View South Elementary, introduced three Tiger Star Readers — Jayden Ruiz, Marcos Andrade and Eli Ramirez. Miguel Puente, principal of Wilbur E. Lucas Elementary, recognized Nicolas Cruz Moncada and Arturo Contreras. Federico Barroso, principal of Valley View Junior High, presented recognition to six students including Renata Zamudio Garcia and Jacob Tapia.
The recognitions were presented early in the meeting; the district recorded attendance of all seven trustees and senior staff for the ceremonial items and subsequent business.
