District leaders report testing starts, extracurricular achievements and safety inspections; enrollment at 665

Administrators presented campus reports at the Valley Mills ISD board meeting on Nov. 19, highlighting recognitions, extracurricular accomplishments and operational updates.
Elementary principal Tessa Dowdy announced Teacher and Employee of the Month recognitions and noted new family and student programs for the holidays. Junior High reported a nearly $800 fundraising total from its Turkey Trot and that therapy-dog work presented by staff drew inter-district interest. High School reports included CNA students beginning clinical rotations at Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton, HOSA’s adoption of 30 residents for Christmas gifts, and the VM FFA Public Relations team winning district and advancing to Area/State opportunity. Athletics reported volleyball and football playoff participation and the start of basketball season. Curriculum staff said testing season began with TSIA2 and the PSAT. Chief Roy Fikac summarized safety work: 96 door-sweep inspections, 36 traffic-control services, one stop-sign replacement after a near-miss, one accidental 911 call (non-emergent), one classroom snake removal, four Standard Response Protocol drills, a TEA DVA pre-inspection on Nov. 10, and a Nov. 18 CJIS audit with certification pending in 30–60 days; the district submitted its NIBRS report with zero errors and updated radio call numbers.
