The Wimberley Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Aug. 4 to adopt the district’s 2025–26 Compensation Plan after a presentation of salary scenarios and budget projections.
The plan lists key adjustments: a $4,000 increase for classroom teachers with three to four years of experience; an $8,000 increase for teachers with five or more years; a $1,000 increase to Step 0 and a $2,000 increase to Steps 1 and 2 on the hiring schedule; and an allocation policy that directs 90% of any Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) funds to designated teachers and retains 10% to support the district TIA program. The minutes record the motion text: "I move that the WISD Board of Trustees adopts the WISD 2025-2026 Compensation Plan as presented." The motion was recorded as made by Trustee Ken Strange and seconded by Trustee Will Conley and passed, Yea: 7, Nay: 0.
Michael Doyle, the district’s chief financial officer, presented the compensation options as part of a broader FY 2025–26 General Fund preview that included payroll scenarios and projections for operational costs. The board materials and presentation also noted a projected total tax rate of $1.0099 and a projected enrollment figure of 2,570 students for 2025–26, numbers the district said do not yet account for any last-minute enrollment increases before the school year began.
The adopted increases are presented in the context of rising costs the district flagged — casualty insurance, instructional materials, staff development, utilities and technology — and are incorporated into the district’s preliminary budget outlook. Implementation details and timing for payroll changes were described in the presentation materials provided to trustees.
