The board opened its Feb. 18 meeting by recognizing multiple student accomplishments in career and fine arts. CTE instructor Jesus Zubia reported that Presidio High School welding students qualified at the state level; Raul Carrasco received awards for Best Work Ethic, Best Leadership Skills and All‑Around Best Welder among 75 competitors. Ricardo Hernandez earned 1st Chair of Jazz II and the solo and ensemble group earned a 'one' rating qualifying them for the state meet in San Antonio on May 23.
Following recognition, trustees unanimously approved out‑of‑state travel for the PHS welding team to attend the Alien Nation Welding Series in Roswell, N.M., May 13–16, 2026. Trustee Iris Galindo made the motion, Maria Montoya seconded, and the vote carried 7–0. The board noted the competitive and certification benefits of CTE trips.
Separately, Khloe Olivas was recognized for selection to the Texas State Athletic Trainer's Association All‑State Academic Team—the only recipient from Region 2 and the first from Presidio—an acknowledgment the superintendent said supports student postsecondary plans.
