Darlington board approves $1.51 million in payroll and multiple routine motions; takes personnel actions after executive session

The Darlington Community School District board on June 17 approved routine payments, a set of donations and a series of personnel actions following an executive session. The board approved General Fund accounts payable checks #178017–#178136 for $300,160.32, May 2026 payroll direct deposits totaling $646,193.72, and payroll benefits/deductions of $565,204.32.
Board members handled a number of additional routine motions: they accepted donations of $225 from the Wiota Lutheran Congregation to offset negative student lunch balances and $100 from Robert and Jeanne Boyle for the KidWind Student Activity Account, approved several scholarship distributions (including a $200 Jordyn Paulson Memorial Scholarship), authorized the transfer of carryover funds to Fund 46, approved closing two named non-interest accounts, and authorized equipment and contract moves including the trade of a Bobcat skid-steer. Motions were moved and seconded by board members and recorded as carried in the minutes; the payroll and payment approvals were moved by Jason King and seconded by Riechers.
After an executive session held under Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1)(c), the board returned to open session and approved hiring Taylor Butson as Business Office Coordinator (including signature and banking authorizations), approved an FMLA leave request per guidelines, approved a slate of fall volunteer coaches for multiple sports, and hired Sammy Turpin as the football announcer. The meeting adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
