During introductions and before the closed-session deliberation on the Level Four DGBA grievance, Trustee Linda Platt-Bryant announced she "cannot render a fair and impartial decision" and excused herself from the presentation. Board President LaTricia Stroud asked members to introduce themselves for the record and confirm they could hear the presentation.
President Stroud attempted to reach the grievant, Rolanda Holifield, who initially did not answer and received a voicemail. When Stroud called again, Holifield answered and said "this matter is now a matter for the Texas Education Agency." The board paused to consult legal counsel about how to proceed before entering closed session; the agenda cites Texas Government Code provisions for personnel and attorney consultation.
