Marquette County appointed four candidates to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority on July 21 to fill vacancies and maintain the eight-member panel that administers brownfield plans and redevelopment incentives.
The clerk's office reported four applications: Mary Myers (County Board appointee position), Kristin Thornton (local government representative), Kathleen Vermaat (Marquette County Planning Commission representative), and Lauren Johnson (real estate position, partial term ending 7/31/2027). Commissioner Nordeen moved to appoint the applicants to the positions they applied for; Commissioner Alholm seconded and the motion was adopted 6-0.
The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, created under PA 381 of 1996, assists with designation and treatment of brownfield projects, pursues grants, and promotes revitalization of environmentally distressed areas; the board's appointments fill the authority's membership for staggered three-year terms.
