The Presidio ISD Board of Trustees voted Sept. 24 to revise Board Policy DC (Local) to limit eligibility for employee recruitment bonuses to staff in positions below campus administrator and to set the bonus amounts at $1,500 for professional (contracted) staff and $500 for at‑will employees, starting with the 2025–26 school year.
Board President Perla Natividad presided as Trustee Marco Lujan moved to adopt the revised policy language and Trustee Jaime Sanchez seconded. The motion to amend DC (Local) passed 6–0, with trustees Perla Natividad, Marco Lujan, Brenda Witty, Jaime Sanchez, Maria Montoya and Jeremy Velasquez voting aye. The separate motion to adopt the fee schedule also carried 6–0. The approved policy requires the recommending staff member to be listed on the applicant's form.
The revision removes campus administrators and above from eligibility for the recruiting fee; the board said this change is intended to limit the incentive to non‑administrative employees. The board did not show revised dollar amounts for prior years; implementation will begin with hires made in the 2025–26 school year. No public comment or opposition to the policy change was recorded in the meeting minutes.
