Council highlights beach tire cleanup and Thunderbird Center job fairs in community announcements

In the meeting's closing announcements, members urged volunteers to help with a second community beach tire cleanup led by the Rotary and zero-waste organizers; the group reported 127 tires collected last year and said organizers will map and collect tires at low tide through mid-May. "We got 127 beach tires picked up last year and there's a lot left to be picked up," a Rotary representative said.

Lynn Carrigan and other members also provided an update on the Thunderbird Center permitting and outreach; she said Friends of Thunderbird is maintaining a website with updates and that job fairs are scheduled for April 15 and April 18. Community members were invited to sign up for newsletters and volunteer efforts; council leaders asked interested islanders to contact the listed volunteers or check the organizations' websites for details.
