Freeburg addresses Route 15 water break, pump failure and upgrades

Trustees discussed system upgrades: Village Engineer Tim Pruett said work continues on the Save Tower plant, and Village Administrator Matt Trout explained that the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA), as part of funding conditions, “said they want our FSH contract to be in line with the loan term.” The minutes also note a sewer lateral backup at a private residence that was determined to be on the homeowner’s lateral, not the public main.
The board did not take a formal vote on any of these operational repairs during the meeting; the items were reported as operational updates. Staff flagged additional private-property plumbing issues at Deerfield as outside the village water system’s responsibility.
