Freeburg trustees hear electric committee report after pole fall, discuss IMEA grant and charging station relocation

Trustee James (Mike) Blaies, chair of the Electric Committee, reported committee items from Feb. 12, 2025. Public Works Director John Tolan told the committee a pole fell on South State and that the fallen pole pulled service off a house; the board discussed past practice of not reimbursing residents for losses deemed acts of God. The committee also noted the IMEA energy-efficiency lighting grant work underway by Head Lineman Shane Krauss.
Tolan said the village submitted paperwork for an IMEA air-permit renewal in July 2024 and that the permit expires in June or July 2025; he also reported discussions with Freeburg Liquor about relocating a charging station from the south side of that business to the north side. The minutes record staffing and training notes, including that “Max is attending CDL training” and that generation is scheduled for the following Tuesday.
