A resident reported that the county fair experienced rain and smoke that hurt in-person attendance but that rain insurance payments left net gate receipts roughly equivalent to last year’s record.
"We had rain insurance ... the net growth that we get from the gate, if you take the rain insurance at the premiums we're paying was actually higher than last year," the resident said, and later described the sale as "close to 500,000" and then "Over 500,000." The resident also reported that board elections took place the week of the fair and that officer elections are scheduled for the September meeting.
The Chair thanked long-serving board members and acknowledged transitions; no formal county budget or policy action was taken on these fair reports during the meeting.
