RFISD board selects job-order contracting, delegates contractor choice for softball/baseball project

The Randolph Field Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Dec. 18 to use job order contracting for planned softball and baseball facility improvements and to allow Superintendent Dr. Brian Holt to select the job order contractor.
Trustee David Megeath moved to consider job order contracting for the project and, after Dr. Holt presented the procurement options, the motion passed 4-0. Megeath then moved to delegate authority to Dr. Holt to select the contractor; that motion also passed 4-0. Board President Jimmy Cornelius moved to adopt the prevailing wage rate for the project, and the board approved that motion 4-0.
Dr. Holt provided the board with contract administration details and project timing; the superintendent also noted the Randolph Field Education Foundation will contribute cement around the batting cages to support the project, and work is expected to be completed before spring. The board did not record any dissenting votes.
Actions taken, as recorded in the meeting, were: the selection of job order contracting as the procurement method; delegation of contractor selection authority to the superintendent; and adoption of the prevailing wage rate for the project. The board recorded each motion as passing by a 4-0 tally.
