Eatontown council approves Green Acres application, police vehicle equipment and enrollment in federal 1033 surplus program

The Borough Council approved a multi-item consent agenda on Jan. 14 that bundled eleven resolutions, including Resolution 26 to submit a Green Acres application for Wolcott Park and Resolution 28 authorizing purchase and installation of equipment for four Chevy Tahoes at a cost not to exceed $89,990.87 under state contract. The council also approved Resolution 27 renewing a Class 5 cannabis retail license for Fresh Dispensary Eatontown, LLC (license period through Feb. 12, 2027), and authorized rental contracts for Department of Public Works temporary facilities: a 24x64 doublewide trailer ($51,080) and a restroom trailer for 12 months ($48,628.13).
Among the more consequential administrative approvals, the council authorized participation in the Defense Logistics Agency Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) 1033 Program for calendar year 2026, enabling the police department to request and acquire certain surplus Department of Defense property (DEMIL A items and authorized DEMIL B–Q property if available), subject to training, maintenance and quarterly public accounting requirements. The consent motion passed on a roll-call vote with all present voting AYE; absent: C. Jones.
