After executive session, Riviera ISD elects Guevara president, Malin vice president and Gutierrez secretary

The Riviera ISD Board elected new officers Feb. 18 after a closed executive session to discuss board officer duties.
Following an executive session that began at 7:03 p.m. and ended at 7:25 p.m., nominations were opened in public session. Trustee Tracy Hubert Beadle moved, "I move that nominations cease and we elect Mr. Guevara for president by acclamation." The motion was seconded and passed; Mr. Guevara abstained on his own election. Similar motions by Beadle led to Rodney Malin being elected vice president by acclamation and Becky Gutierrez being elected secretary by acclamation. Each vote was recorded with those nominated abstaining on their own election, and each motion passed by board majority.
The board returned to open session, took the officer votes and adjourned at 7:29 p.m. The officer elections conclude the board's reorganization actions discussed earlier in the meeting.
