The Riviera ISD Board approved the SHAC-recommended "Aim for Success" curriculum at its Feb. 18 meeting.
Ms. Dobson presented the program, describing grade-level sessions delivered by the vendor during two-day campus visits. She said the curriculum covers bullying prevention, healthy relationships, family violence, sexting and responsible decision-making. Prior to delivery, parents will be provided an opt-in consent form, access to curriculum materials, a webinar link and an opportunity for a face-to-face informational meeting.
Trustee Becky Gutierrez moved to accept the SHAC recommendation; the motion, seconded by Crystal Ramirez-Garcia, passed 6–0 with one absent. The board discussed ensuring materials and parental notifications are clear and age-appropriate before vendor visits occur.
