Riviera ISD approves interlocal cybersecurity agreement with UTRGV RSOC

Rick Gonzalez presented the proposal, saying the RSOC is supported by "approximately $42 million in state funding" dedicated to school cybersecurity and would provide the district with monitoring, threat detection, incident response support and endpoint protection through SentinelOne. He told the board that comparable services could cost the district about $20,000 annually if purchased independently and recommended approval to enhance the district's cybersecurity readiness. Trustee Becky Gutierrez moved to approve the agreement; the motion passed without recorded opposition.
The district emphasized that participation provides access to services but does not require the district to deploy every offering. The board did not specify additional local costs tied to enrollment in RSOC services beyond participation, and trustees asked staff to integrate the agreement into district cybersecurity planning.
