Riviera ISD trustees voted to accept the district's auto and liability insurance renewal through the TASB Risk Management Fund at the Feb. 18 meeting.
Jolynn Moreno reviewed the renewal, noting a modest increase in auto physical-damage contributions attributed to rising vehicle repair and parts costs but confirmed the renewal would remain within the budgeted $26,000 line item. The policy continues to provide school liability coverage (professional, legal and general liability), privacy and information-security coverage, and no-cost violent acts coverage.
Moreno also noted the carrier’s explicit position regarding recent legislative changes affecting liability exposure for sexual abuse claims and that the policy includes $1,000,000 in coverage related to those provisions. Trustee Becky Gutierrez moved to accept the contract as presented; the motion passed 6–0 with one absence.
Board discussion emphasized monitoring claim trends and legislative changes that could affect future premiums or coverage needs.
