City of Neodesha adopts Resolution No. 26-07 ordering abatement at 1318 N 8th Street

The City of Neodesha Board of Commissioners on April 22 approved Resolution No. 26-07, which finds the structure at 1318 North 8th Street ‘‘unsafe and causing a blighting influence’’ under the City of Neodesha Environmental Code, Article 3, section 26-43. Commissioner Banzet moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Truelove seconded and the motion carried.
The resolution directs the owner to repair or clean up the property and gives the owner 30 days from the date of publication to begin abatement. If the owner fails to commence and diligently prosecute the work, the governing body will cause the premises to be repaired or abated and assess the costs, less any salvage, as a special assessment against the lot. The resolution also directs the City Clerk to publish the resolution once in the official city paper and mail copies to owners, agents, lienholders and occupants as provided by law. Property owner Judy Eastwood and her sister Michelle Smith appeared for the public hearing before the vote.
