Lumberport contractors report wastewater ammonia exceedance and multiple equipment repairs needed

Quality Water Services LLC presented a written monthly status report noting that February drinking-water and wastewater samples were completed and submitted but that the wastewater plant recorded an exceedance for ammonia nitrogen. The report states corrective action taken: "Corrective action on treatment has been to increase dosage of Biojet 7, will resample second week of March." QWS also flagged an earlier paperwork issue (August MOR) related to chlorine and turbidity for which it will draft a public notice before Oct. 15, 2025.
The QWS report identified operational concerns that will require parts replacement or vendor estimates: high-service pump #2 contact repairs are not feasible (parts unavailable), two lagoon mixers have failed starters and another mixer has a bad motor, and a ridge vent on a chemical-feed building was blown off and temporarily repaired. The report asked the council to direct next steps and to authorize pricing and repairs where necessary.
Council accepted the QWS report into the record by motion during the meeting; the minutes do not record a detailed procurement decision but note the need for vendor pricing and that the town previously approved putting sediment-removal bids out (process on hold due to weather).
