Board approves administrative contract renewals; superintendent flags bus seatbelt costs
Summary
After closed session the board approved one-year extensions for recommended administrative contracts; Superintendent Jeff Irvin reported Quinlan ISD has 19 buses without 3‑point seat belts and current budgets do not support retrofits or replacements.
The board entered closed session to discuss administrator contract renewals and faculty hires and resignations, then returned to open session and approved administrative contract extensions recommended in item 12A. Rusty Case moved approval of the administrative contract renewals and Todd Darter seconded; the motion carried 7-0.
During the superintendent's report, Jeff Irvin reminded trustees of the Summer Leadership Institute dates (June 17–20, 2026) and outlined planned CTE building summer projects. Irvin also addressed SB Law 546 regarding 3-point seatbelt requirements for buses, reporting that Quinlan ISD currently has 19 buses without 3-point seat belts and that the estimate to retrofit or replace those buses is not supported by the existing budget or the preliminary 2026–27 budget.
